Workshop: Nuclear Piping in Nuclear Power Engineering

Date and location

The aim of the workshop is to familiarize participants with the preparation, execution, including welding, quality control, and non-destructive testing (NDT) of pipelines in nuclear power plants during their construction and operation.

The main topic of this edition of the workshops is nuclear pipelines (PL).

Workshop topics

The workshop focuses on key issues related to the construction and operation of pipelines in large and small (SMR) nuclear power plants in the context of the energy transition.

The following topics will be presented:

  • the specifics of work organization when executing orders for NPPs piping,
  • the specifics of pipeline preparation, welding, finishing, and quality control (NDT) both in workshop conditions and on the construction site of nuclear power plants,
  • repair and inspection of NPP pipelines during their operation.

Who is it for?

The workshops are aimed at:

  • Representatives of industrial companies from the energy, welding, and other sectors whose activities are related to energy.
  • Research institutes and universities conducting research on new solutions in the field of nuclear energy.

Why is it worth it?

The revised Polish Nuclear Power Programme (PPEJ) envisages the construction of several power units in Poland with a total capacity of 6 to 9 GWe, with the first nuclear power unit in Pomerania scheduled to be commissioned in 2036.

Łukasiewicz – Upper Silesian Institute of Technology, Welding Centre has been providing support for many years to companies preparing to launch the production of equipment or structures, as well as providing services for the construction of nuclear power plants both in Poland and abroad.

As part of these activities, we conduct various workshops and training courses, among other things.
