W Łukasiewicz – Górnośląskim Instytucie Technologicznym mieliśmy przyjemność gościć grupę studentów z Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM) w Meksyku. Towarzyszyli im prof. Demófilo Maldonado Cortés z Wydziału Inżynierii Mechanicznej i Elektronicznej UDEM oraz dr hab. DSc Marek Hebda z Politechniki Krakowskiej.
The visit was an excellent opportunity for knowledge transfer between the scientific community and technical education. It provided a space for the exchange of experience, inspiration, and the development of international collaboration – all within the framework of Science’s Social Responsibility (SON).
The program included:
- presentation of the Institute’s activities by MA Marek Dragan
- tour of laboratories and technology halls of the Research Groups:
- Welding and Bonding Technologies, Environmental Protection,
- Welding Technologies/LBS,
- meetings with experts: MSc Eng. Joanna Wyciślik-Sośnierz, MSc Eng. Maciej Piotrowski, Eng. Mateusz Radoń,
- practical demonstrations of research and implemented technologies.

- Welding Technologies
We specialize in modern techniques such as FSW (Friction Stir Welding), HSFW, resistance and ultrasonic welding. Our solutions include welding aluminum, magnesium, copper, titanium alloys and plastics. We hold an international FSW patent. - Bonding of Structural Materials
We conduct advanced research on bonding aluminum, steel, and composites and offer certified training compliant with European standards. - Safety of Welding Processes
We develop methods to reduce emissions and improve occupational safety. Our i-EkoSpawanie advisory system supports technological decisions in industrial settings. - Advanced Welding Technologies
We are leaders in:- laser welding and cladding
- hybrid welding (laser + arc, HLAW)
- electron beam welding
- laser and plasma cutting
- hard, induction, furnace and flame brazing
- arc welding/cladding
- MIG/MAG brazing.
