Modern welding technologies, nuclear energy, and industrial process safety will be the central themes of the 67th International Welding Conference, bringing together experts, scientists, and industry leaders from Poland and abroad in Katowice in October 2026.
From 13 to 15 October 2026, the International Congress Centre will become the focal point for discussions on the future of modern welding technologies. It is there that the 67th International Welding Conference, held under the theme “Modern Welding in the Era of Nuclear Energy”, will take place alongside the ExpoWELDING International Welding Fair. For many years, the event has been recognized as one of the most important gatherings of the welding community in Poland and Europe, attracting representatives of industry, science, and leaders in advanced technologies.
The conference dates back to 1953, making it the oldest and most prestigious welding forum in Poland. Its long-standing tradition and international character have established the conference as a renowned platform for exchanging experience, presenting innovative solutions, and discussing the future directions of the welding industry. . This year’s edition will focus particularly on issues related to nuclear energy, which is becoming one of the key areas of Europe’s industrial and energy transformation.
Conference participants will have the opportunity to explore the latest trends and technologies applied in modern welding. The program will include topics related to high-energy beam welding technologies, laser and electron beam processes, production automation, and quality assurance systems dedicated to the nuclear energy sector. Important sessions will also address ASME and AFCEN standards, nuclear safety culture, and the role of welding supervision and NDT personnel in strategic industrial investments.
For many years, the conference has served as a platform where science meets industrial practice. In addition to expert lectures and scientific sessions, participants will gain insight into real-life implementations of advanced technologies and solutions used by market leaders. The event will provide a unique opportunity for direct meetings with representatives of industrial plants, research institutes, technical universities, manufacturers of welding equipment and consumables, as well as industry organizations.
Special attention will also be given to topics related to professional competence development and certification. Experts will discuss current requirements for welding personnel qualifications, new training standards, and recent changes in personnel and process certification systems. Participants will also learn about the latest developments in joining technologies, adhesive bonding, corrosion protection, and alternative techniques used in modern industry.
An integral part of the event will be the ExpoWELDING International Welding Fair, during which leading manufacturers and suppliers will showcase innovative equipment, materials, and automation systems for industrial production processes. As a result, conference attendees will have the opportunity not only to acquire specialized knowledge, but also to experience the latest technologies in practice and establish valuable business contacts.
The conference program includes three intensive days of thematic sessions, technology presentations, panel discussions, and networking meetings. The official opening ceremony will be accompanied by the presentation of the Olszewski Medals, PTS Diamonds, and the Łukasiewicz – GIT Award for universities, secondary schools, and authors of outstanding diploma theses. Additional events will include poster sessions, company presentations, and a ceremonial gala banquet bringing together representatives of both industry and academia.
Łukasiewicz – GIT also invites participants to actively contribute to the conference by submitting scientific papers and posters. This is an excellent opportunity to present research results, innovative technological solutions, and industrial experience to an international audience of experts and practitioners.
