Joanna Wyciślik–Sośnierz, DEng has successfully defended her doctoral dissertation entitled “The influence of technological parameters of laser and hybrid welding of corrosion-resistant steels on dust emission levels, its chemical composition, and morphology”. . The research was carried out in the field of engineering and technical sciences, in the discipline of materials engineering, at the Silesian University of Technology, as part of the 5th edition of the “Industrial Doctorate” programme between 2021 and 2025.

The study had an applied character and focused on analysing the influence of laser and hybrid welding process parameters on dust emissions generated during the processing of corrosion-resistant steels. The results enabled the development of practical technological guidelines that can be implemented in the welding industry to reduce pollutant emissions and improve occupational safety and working conditions.

The doctoral supervisor was Janusz Adamiec, BEng, PhD, DSc, ProfTit, the assistant supervisor was Michał Urbańczyk, DEng, and the auxiliary supervisor from Łukasiewicz – Upper Silesian Institute of Technology was Jolanta Matusiak, DEng. The dissertation was reviewed by Jarosław Mizera, BEng, PhD, DSc, ProfTit (Warsaw University of Technology), Zbigniew Mirski, BEng, PhD, DSc, ProfTit (Wrocław University of Science and Technology), and Jerzy Łabanowski, BEng, PhD, DSc, ProfTit, (Gdańsk University of Technology).

The research outcomes represent a significant contribution to the development of welding technologies, particularly in the context of sustainable industrial development and the protection of the environment and human health.
