Łukasiewicz – Upper Silesian Institute of Technology (Łukasiewicz – GIT) had the pleasure of hosting Prof. Yujiao Ke from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Yanshan University in Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province, China. The visit provided an excellent opportunity for the exchange of scientific expertise and discussions on potential avenues for research collaboration in the fields of materials engineering, manufacturing technologies, and advanced industrial processes.
The meeting began with discussions involving Jarosław Marcisz, PhD, DSc, Deputy Director for Research at Łukasiewicz – GIT, and Aleksander Lisiecki, PhD, DSc, Professor of Silesian University of Technology and Deputy Director of the Welding Centre at Łukasiewicz – GIT. During the meeting, the Institute’s profile, research potential, and key strategic development areas were presented. Professor Yujiao Ke, in turn, introduced the activities of Yanshan University, one of China’s leading academic institutions, with particular emphasis on research in metallurgy, metal forming, rolling processes, manufacturing technologies, and the joining of advanced materials. He also outlined the University’s achievements in industrial automation and robotics, computer science, and the development of advanced electric drive systems.
An important part of the visit was the presentation of Łukasiewicz – GIT’s research infrastructure. Representatives of the Welding Centre, the Materials Research Centre, and the Metallurgical Technologies Centre showcased state-of-the-art laboratories, advanced research equipment, and selected projects aimed at developing innovative technologies and materials.
The visit highlighted the importance of international scientific cooperation as a driving force behind technological advancement and the development of long-term partnerships between research and academic institutions with complementary areas of expertise.
