  2. Łukasiewicz Research Network – Upper Silesian Institute of Technology

Objective:

The main objective of the project is to design and build a modular eKIT drive system used in electric vehicles and special electric machines operating in difficult agricultural, road, and construction conditions.

The scope of work includes the development of advanced technology for the construction and production of an electric drive unit consisting of an innovative electric motor assembly with a control system, an adaptive transmission, modular battery packs with a BMS energy management system, and a modular drive unit mounting system. An additional function of eKIT will be the possibility of using it as a power source for construction and workshop power tools.

The improvement of traction characteristics of the drive system and resistance to loads under operating conditions will be confirmed on the basis of industrial research and development works. Unique methods of connecting the drive system modules will allow to maintain the required strength, reliability, and safety. The material used in the construction of the electric motor will be resistant to increased humidity and sulphur. The scope of works also includes the study of modular frameworks as examples of adaptation of the developed eKIT system.

The obtained results will be used to build the eKIT prototype in variants of the drive system used for a commercial vehicle.

The prototype will be created as a result of testing and optimisation of prototype eKIT drive systems in 3 variants:

  • special-purpose vehicles
  • construction machinery
  • agricultural machinery.
