The Łukasiewicz – Upper Silesian Institute of Technology (Łukasiewicz – GIT) had the honor of serving as a Content Partner at the 12th Technical Conference “Maintenance 2026,” held in Nałęczów.
A highlight of the event was the 4th Discussion Panel, “Maintenance – Diagnostics, Repairs, Modernizations,” which focused on maintenance policies and operations in power plants, as well as challenges facing the energy sector.
The discussion was moderated by Dr. habil. Eng. Stanisław Tokarski, Center for Energy, AGH University of Science and Technology / Central Mining Institute – National Research Institute. Panelists included:
- Zygmunt Artwik, Vice President for Production, ZE PAK SA
- Krzysztof Brunné, Vice President, Scientific and Technical Services Company “Pro Novum” Ltd.
- Marek Kotuła, Director of Technical and Production Division, TAURON Wytwarzanie S.A.
- Waldemar Szulc, Director, Polish Power Plants Business Association
- Grzegorz Wojciechowski, Director of the Maintenance Division, Enea Wytwarzanie Group
- Prof. Dr. Habil. Eng. Adam Mikołaj Zieliński, Director of the Łukasiewicz – GIT
The panel covered key issues for the safety and stability of the Polish energy system:
- preparing the system to operate without emission sources
- addressing the capacity gap
- reactive power compensation and KSE stabilization
- strategic maintenance challenges
- minimizing the risk of failures
During the conference, Hanna Purzyńska, Director of the Materials Research Center at Łukasiewicz – GIT, also delivered a presentation entitled “Operation–Degradation–Decision: The Basis of Material Research for the Safety of the National Conventional Power Industry,” highlighting the importance of material research in ensuring reliability and safety in conventional energy production.
Łukasiewicz – GIT’s participation in the conference highlighted the institute’s role as an expert in maintenance, industrial innovation, and material research, as well as the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange within the energy sector.
