Łukasiewicz – GIT Welding Centre had the honour of hosting representatives of Commission III of the International Institute of Welding (IIW), Resistance Welding, Solid State Welding and Allied Joining Processes. The visit of these internationally renowned experts provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the Institute’s research and development capabilities, exchange specialist knowledge, and strengthen international cooperation in the field of advanced materials joining technologies.
Łukasiewicz – GIT Welding Centre welcomed representatives of IIW Commission III, the commission responsible for the development and promotion of resistance welding, solid-state welding, and allied joining processes. The meeting provided an excellent platform for technical dialogue, the exchange of expertise, and the presentation of the Institute’s latest research achievements.
The distinguished guests included Hee Seok Chang, PhD from the Republic of Korea, Chair of IIW Commission III, and Murali Tumuluru from the United States, Chair of the Resistance Welding Session of IIW Commission III. Their presence underscored the significance of the event and highlighted the importance of the international partnerships fostered by Łukasiewicz – GIT Welding Centre.
The delegation was welcomed and guided through the Welding Centre by Zygmunt Mikno, PhD, DSc, Jolanta Matusiak, DEng, Aleksandra Węglowska, DEng, and Janusz Pikuła, DEng. During the visit, the guests were introduced to the Institute’s activities, flagship research and development projects, and state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure that enables world-class research in resistance welding, FSW, ultrasonic and vibration welding, adhesive bonding innovative materials.
A key highlight of the programme was a tour of the GB-SR Research Group laboratories, where the visitors had the opportunity to explore the Centre’s advanced research facilities, specialised equipment, and technological solutions supporting both scientific research and industrial implementation projects tailored to the evolving needs of modern industry.
The visit reaffirmed Łukasiewicz – GIT Welding Centre’s strong position as a partner in international research initiatives and as a leading research institution actively contributing to the advancement of modern welding and joining technologies. It also opened new prospects for future collaboration with leading experts and research organisations, further strengthening the Institute’s presence within the global welding and materials joining community.
