Representatives of Łukasiewicz – GIT took part in the 35th International Conference on Metallurgy and Materials METAL 2026 – International Conference on Metallurgy and Materials in Brno, presenting the latest research results in the field of advanced metallurgy, in particular those concerning nanobainitic steel, and actively participating in the international exchange of scientific and technological knowledge.

Jarosław Marcisz, PhD, DSc, Marek Jelec, Beng, MSc represented Łukasiewicz – GIT during the 35th International Conference on Metallurgy and Materials METAL 2026, which was held in Brno. The event brought together experts, researchers, and specialists in metallurgy and materials engineering, serving as a platform for knowledge exchange, presentation of research results, and discussion of the latest industry trends.

During the conference, Deputy Director for Research Jarosław Marcisz, PhD, DSc, presented a paper entitled “Two-Stage Isothermal Transformation of Austenite into Nanobainite in a Chemically Inhomogeneous Medium-alloy Steel Containing 0.5 wt% C”. The presentation addressed issues related to the two-stage isothermal transformation of austenite into nanobainite in medium-alloy steels with chemically inhomogeneous structures, representing an important research direction in the field of advanced structural materials.

The co-authors of the presented research paper included Bogdan Garbarz, BEng, PhD, DSc, ProfTit, Jarosław Marcisz, PhD, DSc, Marek Jelec, Beng, MSc, Władysław Zalecki, DEng, Radosław Rozmus, DEng, and Zofia Kania-Pifczyk, DEng. The joint study was the result of extensive collaboration within a research team working on advanced issues in steel metallurgy.

The METAL 2026 conference covered a wide range of topics, including ferrous metal technologies, steelmaking processes, foundry engineering, metal forming, surface engineering, properties and applications of non-ferrous metals and alloys, as well as the economic aspects of production management.

The participation of representatives of Łukasiewicz – GIT in METAL 2026 was an important element of the institute’s scientific activity, providing an opportunity to present research achievements on an international stage and to further develop cooperation within the global materials science and metallurgy community.
