As of February 1, 2026, significant changes have been introduced to the guidelines applicable to Approved Welder Training Centers. This update reflects ongoing technological advancements and the increasing quality requirements within the welding industry.
Scope of the Changes
As part of the revision, the previous guidelines have been replaced with new documents:
- W-19/IS-41 → W-CS-41/2024
- W-19/IS-17 → W-CS-17/2024
- W-19/IS-01 → W-CS-01/2025
- W-19/IS-02 → W-CS-02/2025
- W-19/IS-03 → W-CS-03/2025
Key Areas of Update
The introduced changes include, in particular:
- adjustment of the required training hours to align with current industry needs and standards,
- update of the lecture curriculum, reflecting the latest technological requirements,
- revision of practical training exercise sets, with a stronger focus on real-world skills.
At the same time, the core elements of the training system remain unchanged:
- the modular structure of the training programs,
- the requirement to hold a welder’s qualification record book as proof of certification.
Additional Information
The remaining guidelines, namely W-19/IS-04, W-19/IS-05, W-19/IS-06, and W-19/IS-07, remain temporarily unchanged.
Training courses that commenced under the previous guidelines (W-19/IS-01, W-19/IS-02, W-19/IS-03) will continue to be conducted in accordance with their existing provisions, ensuring continuity of the training process.
