Łukasiewicz – GIT has launched the VIOLET project – an innovative initiative under the Erasmus+ program that introduces AR and VR technologies into welding training. The project aims to modernize vocational education, increase its accessibility and flexibility, and develop a modular personnel qualification system across Europe.
At the Łukasiewicz – GIT, Welding Centre, project partners gathered to kick off VIOLET, led by our Institute. VIOLET is a three-year Erasmus+ project designed to enhance international training for welding personnel through modules using augmented and virtual reality technologies.
This approach will make vocational education in welding more modern and flexible, overcoming the current dependency on physical access to training materials and equipment. The project will accelerate the implementation of a modern, modular system for welding personnel qualification within a harmonized vocational education framework and support training delivery through more flexible digital tools.
The project consortium brings together institutions with experience in both international training and the implementation of modern teaching methods using AR and VR technologies.
The consortium includes:
- Łukasiewicz – Upper Silesian Institute of Technology
- Institut za Varilstvo (Słowenia)
- Asociatia de Sudura Din Romania
- European Welding Federation (EWF)
- Augmented Training Services SL – a Spanish company specializing in digital educational tools
- ISQ E Learning Tec Inov Form SA – a Portuguese company providing digital solutions and tools for managing training processes, including vocational education.
On February 10–11, partners met in Gliwice to discuss practical project implementation, define the scope of work packages, and develop a communication and dissemination strategy.
The upcoming stages include market needs analysis, development of appropriate training tools, pilot implementation, and finally, the creation and deployment of a modern training model within a harmonized system coordinated by international institutions such as the International Institute of Welding and the European Welding Federation.
Participants highlighted the benefits of meeting in person at the start of the project, which helped strengthen collaboration from the very beginning.
Łukasiewicz – GIT is a recognized institution with extensive experience in implementing international research and scientific projects.
