Individuals wishing to obtain the International/European Welding Engineer (I/EWE) qualification can now register for the training programme starting on 19 October 2026. At the same time, the minimum entry requirements for admission to the course and examination have been updated, broadening access for candidates with relevant educational backgrounds or professional experience.
Minimum Entry Requirements for the Course/Examination:
Pathway I – Full Course
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- hold an engineering degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) obtained after completing at least a three-year first-cycle programme in the fields of science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM*);
- the degree programme must comply with Level 6 of the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED) and be awarded by a higher education institution supervised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education;
- the curriculum must include at least the following subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering and materials science.
or
- hold a degree that does not meet the above requirements, provided they have at least three years of professional experience in metalworking or welding, gained within the last five years prior to submitting the application.
Pathway II – Course with Practical Training
Candidates must:
- meet the requirements specified for Pathway I, and
- have completed training covering the scope of Part I of the course.
Pathway III – Course without Practical Training
Candidates must have:
- completed a degree programme in welding engineering,
or
- educational qualifications meeting the requirements of Pathway I, together with postgraduate studies in welding engineering.
The training programme begins on 19 October 2026.
