Title: Development of an innovative cast steel for hydrogen service
Project implemented by a consortium consisting of:
Leader – PGO S.A.
Consortium member – Sieć Badawcza Łukasiewicz – Górnośląski Instytut Technologiczny
Name of the programme: European Funds for a Modern Economy
Total value of the project: PLN 15 359 886.71
Total funding from the European Funds: PLN 8 669 058.18
Value of the project for Łukasiewicz – GIT: PLN 3 547 261.03
Funding from the European Funds for Łukasiewicz – GIT: PLN 3 453 171.25
Timeframe of the project: 01.01.2026 – 31.12.2028
Objective:
Project objective: The objective of the project under the R&D Module is to develop and test an innovative product in the form of cast steel for hydrogen service, manufactured based on a dedicated integrated cast steel production process.
Project Activities and Outcomes:
Within the R&D Module, research will be conducted to develop material and process solutions ensuring enhanced resistance of cast steel to hydrogen embrittlement. This will result in increased service life under elevated pressures and stability of mechanical properties over a wide temperature range in equipment designed for hydrogen applications.
Target groups / Applications:
Products manufactured using the new technology will find applications in the following sectors:
- gas sector,
- energy sector.
