On April 24 in Katowice, as part of the 18th European Economic Congress<\/strong>, the \u201cThe Iron and Steel Industry\u201d session<\/a><\/span><\/strong> will take place, focusing on the current situation and future prospects of the steel sector in Europe and Poland. Among the speakers will be Hanna Purzy\u0144ska, DEng, Director of the Materials Research Center at the \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Upper Silesian Institute of Technology. <\/strong><\/p>

The panel will address key challenges facing the steel industry, including the impact of existing regulations and rising energy costs on the competitiveness of European steel producers. Participants will also discuss pressure from non-European markets and the effectiveness of EU market protection instruments. An important part of the discussion will cover investments in specialized steel products<\/strong> as a response to the evolving needs of industry and the economy. <\/p>

A significant topic will also be the role of the steel sector in ensuring security<\/strong> \u2013 both in terms of meeting the needs of the defense industry and maintaining domestic production capacities. Experts will examine how short supply chains and the development of local manufacturing can strengthen economic resilience and strategic independence in Poland and across the European Union. <\/p>

The session will also feature leading representatives of major companies and institutions in the steel sector: Henryk Orczykowski (Stalprofil), Adam Preiss (ArcelorMittal Poland), Marek Serafin (Koksownia Cz\u0119stochowa Nowa Sp. z o.o.), Adrian Sienicki (W\u0119glokoks SA \/ Huta Cz\u0119stochowa), Piotr Sikorski (Polish Union of Steel Distributors and Processors), and Prof. Tadeusz Telejko (AGH University of Science and Technology in Krak\u00f3w). The discussion will be moderated by Piotr Myszor, journalist at WNP.pl. <\/p>
