demands of advanced manufacturing, the green and digital transitions, and the industry-wide recognition of skills. Ensuring a highly qualified workforce is essential to maintaining competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability within the sector. <\/strong> The International\/European Welding Engineer Qualification (I\/EWE) plays a key role in providing industry-recognised skills; however, its full modular implementation has yet to be realised, limiting flexibility, mobility, and access to training.<\/p><p>Despite significant progress in aligning the Welding Qualification System with the European Skills Agenda, further efforts are required to ensure its comprehensive implementation across Vocational Education and Training (VET). The transition to a modular structure, based on Competence Units (CUs) and learning outcomes, offers numerous advantages \u2013 greater learner mobility, recognition of prior learning, and more personalised career pathways. However, barriers such as the lack of tailored digital learning resources, assessment tools, and expertise in modularisation continue to hinder its widespread adoption.  <\/p><p>The VIOLET project directly addresses these challenges by developing innovative online training materials, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) tools, and harmonised assessment methods to support the modular delivery of I\/EWE training. By equipping VET providers with digital and flexible learning solutions, the project promotes greater accessibility, cost-efficiency, and alignment with industry needs. <\/p><p>Furthermore, VIOLET supports key European priorities, including the Digital Education Action Plan, the European Green Deal, and the European Strategy for Vocational Education and Training. <strong>By modernising welding education and strengthening cooperation between VET providers and industry, the project enhances the quality, attractiveness, and sustainability of training across Europe.<\/strong><\/p><p>Funding VIOLET is essential to closing the skills gap in the welding sector, accelerating the adoption of modular qualifications, and ensuring a workforce prepared for the industry of the future.
