main objective of the project was to develop an action plan (blueprint) for a sustainable European Steel Skills Agenda (ESSA) agreed and coordinated by the steel industry. The programme presents a strategy to meet current and future skills requirements and recommends the development of specific modules and tools to build awareness and implement new skills in a globally competitive industry. The objective was to prepare to anticipate new skill requirements and develop proactive hands-on activities to meet future industry demands.  <\/p><p>The long-term skills development strategy developed as a result of the project, taking into account the needs of industry, enables steel industry enterprises and vocational education and training (VET) institutions to:<\/p><ul><li>Adjust the workforce in a proactive way, and thus implement new technologies to optimise the production process;<\/li><li>Continuously monitor and shorten the implementation of relevant industry qualifications in national vocational education and training systems;<\/li><li>Develop and exchange modules and tools, as well as share experiences from the process of implementation of the new skills and strategy programme;<\/li><li>Discuss and compare the developed Blueprint with solutions\/Blueprints developed for other sectors;<\/li><li>Increase the attractiveness of the steel industry and careers in this sector for talented people (recruitment and retention).<\/li><\/ul><p>10 EU countries were directly involved in the Programme: Belgium, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
